This quick south indian delicacy is a flavour some treat and goes well with all the recipe. So what are we waiting for. Lets hop into the kitchen and quickly make this spicy tangy garlicy chutney.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Tomatoes
  • 8 - 10 Baby Shallots
  • 1 medium size Onion
  • 5 - 6 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tablespoon Coconut grated
  • 4 dried Red Chillies
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chilly powder, to taste
  • Curry leaves, is optional
  • Salt, to taste

Procedure:

Chop the ingredients randomly. The shape of the vegetables does not matter, as these are ultimately going into the grinder. I had some left over tangy baby tomatoes; hence I am using it for the recipes.

Heat a pan and toss in all the ingredients, except coconut and chilly powder. Dry roast them until the tomatoes oozes out and the onions turn translucent, while the garlic is well roasted. The ingredients should turn out soft and mushy. Now add the grated coconut and mix well.

Check the seasoning and add the chilly powder. Add 2 spoon of water, mix well and cover it. Allow this to cook well for another minute or so and then switch off the flame.

Transfer the cooked ingredients to a grinder to make a smooth chutney.

Transfer to a serving bowl and serve this Tomato Garlic Chutney as a condiment with the Dosas, Idlis or paratha.
