I am so delighted to share the pics of my Yellow Pear Tomato plant. We just had one plant and that has given a good produce in a short time.
Other than my fresh garden tomatoes and basil leaves, the filling is made with mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese and za’atar.
Za’atar:
For those of you who have never heard of Za’atar let me tell you, Zaatar is a kind of Spice; a flavorful Middle Eastern spice blend used in many dishes throughout the Middle East. It is either sprinkled over dips such as hummus, baba ganoush, roasted vegetables, grilled meat or over pita bread drizzled with olive oil. But there are a multitude of uses for Za’atar spice and I’m so excited for you to get acquainted with it and discover your own delicious uses.
Za’atar Spice is a blend of savory dried herbs like oregano, marjoram or thyme, and earthy spices like cumin, coriander, sesame seeds, salt and a hint of sumac.
Sumac:
Sumac is a spice from the Middle East, made from the dried and ground berries of the wild sumac flower, sumac is a tangy spice with a sour, acidic flavor reminiscent of lemon juice. This fragrant spice is used to brighten up dry rubs, spice blends like za’atar, and dressings. Sumac is also commonly used as a garnish, to add a pop of bold color or slight acidity to a dish before serving.
